Olaf Sigurdsson in native of land of the Vikings Iceland and now resides in Waymart PA with his family.Born in Reykjavik, Iceland Olaf migrated to the USA 1976 at age 25.Olaf has won many awards and is currently showing his work at Philip Hone Gallery in Honesdale PA.His last solo exhibits was in South Street Gallery in Waymat 2008.Olaf has decided to dedicate his new homepage to his vikingart only.The artist also paints landscapes,locomotives,portraits,still life as well.His style is expressionistic,utilizing broad strokes,with sometimes heavy impasto.Largely self taught Olaf started drawing and painting early in first grade school in Iceland,as Olaf remember "that's the only thing I was any good at in school".After arriving to USA in 1976 Olaf took some brake from paining and drawing and started family.Then in 1980 Olaf started painting again with art classes and workshop at Westwood College Dallas Texas.Olaf relocated to Pennsylvania in 1985 and has lived there with his family ever since.In late '90s Olaf took some lesson and suggestion like to paint on 3/4" birchwood panel from his good friend the late Robert Rasley.Robert took Olaf to the some art galleries in Manhattan N.Y. like Allan Stone Gallery and showed him the real deal in the artworld.
